Closing Canada's Smile GAP
Indigenous youth are disproportionately affected
Kids in Indigenous communities are 3x more likely to have cavities* compared to kids in the rest of Canada. There are many reasons for this inequality, from access to basic supplies to distance from dental centres. That’s why Crest and Oral B are partnering with Indigenous leaders to improve both access and education. Hear from one of those partners, Dr. Sheri McKinstry, on the challenges she faced, and what we’re doing together to close the smile gap.

Every child in Canada deserves a happy, healthy smile. That’s why Crest and Oral B are…
- Creating scholarships to help more Indigenous youth pursue dentistry
- Donating supplies to communities across Canada
- Working with partners like Dr. Sheri McKinstry to identify other opportunities for support
And that’s just the beginning.
We’re working to build a better, more sustainable future for Indigenous communities - both to increase healthcare now, and encourage more representation within the dental profession.
